UKC
and the
Briard
The UKC (United Kennel Club), established in 1898, is the  largest
performance dog registry in the world. They recognize and register over
370 different breeds of dogs within each of our 50 states and 25 foreign
countries.

During this vast history, representation of the Briard breed in UKC events
has been limited. However ! Briard participation within the UKC in recent
years has been on the increase.

With each day that passes, more and more Briards and their owners are
participating in UKC events. Due to this increase of Briard activity, and,
with hopes of much greater participation of the Briard breed, we have
decided to form what should be the UKC's first breed related club for the  
                           Briard breed.                           
Now in the formation stage, the "North American Briard Association"
is seeking not only members, but, members willing to serve on a Board of Directors for this new organization.

If you have an interest in becoming a member of this new organization, please feel free to email the owners of this
website (Jack & Jan Wynne), and together we can start to formulate a plan of action, so the Briard breed will have

We have contacted the Archive Department at the UKC to find out the
exact extent of Briard participation throughout their history. The UKC
Research Coordinator has furnished us with statistics on the activities
of the Briard breed.
