Group 1 judge: Eilene Pimlott
After Gena's Group 1 win, she entered the Best in Show ring. But, a big named, nationally known
Newfoundland was already slated to win Best in Show that day. Oh well. . . . . . . a Group 1 win is a very big
win in itself, and not too many dogs have claim to such a win.

Gena's prize from the Pontiac Kennel Club for winning the Herding Group was a director's chair.
However ! Gena did receive a bouquet of flowers with 2 helium balloons from an admirer. Gena also
received a stuffed oversized bed cushion with 'Ch. Group 1' embroidered on it from the same admirer, her
breeder.
Winning awards and posing for pictures is very tiring !

In 1996, Gena was shown quite extensively in the U.S. and in Canada. She became the Number 1 winning
Briard in Canada and Number 17 in the U.S. for that year, 1996. There were numerous Best of Breed and
Group wins. Gena was in so many shows, that when a judge would approach her head, she would
automatically spread her lips to have her teeth checked. We had to watch this action very closely because
some judges might see this as a threat, a dog with her lips curled, showing her teeth. And believe me,
there are some judges that would disqualify her for attempting to bite, but luckily this never happened.
Windsor Ontario Canada show. Mother Gena takes Best of Breed and daughter Ellie takes Winners Bitch
in March of 1996.
Gena takes Best of Breed at the Trillium Dog Fanciers show in Toronto in 1996.
03.16.97. . Gena whelped a 14 puppy litter. Bred to Ch. Ferguson de Knollwood, Fozzie's black brother.

Out of the 14 puppies, 9 were black and 5 were tawny, 7 were females and 7 were males.
5 black females, 2 tawny females. . 4 black males, 3 tawny males

The 14 puppies were: Jean d'Arc, Bailey, North, Meggie, Bradley, Tashe, Barty, Haty, Luke, Arielle, Noel,
Nicole, Nadia and Zar. The black male Zar was purchased by television and movie star Raven Simone,
and is living in Georgia.

After this litter in 1997, Gena's show career slowed down. There was nothing more to obtain after being the
Number 1 Briard in Canada and the Number 17 Briard in the United States. Although she was in top form,
we semi retired Gena in order to complete the show careers of Gena's daughter Ellie, Ellie's daughter
Darla and Marquise, our French import.

Then. In 2001, at the age of 10 years old, Gena has two big wins as a Veteran in 2 shows in Canada. The
first win as Best Veteran in Sweeps at the Canadian Briard Club National Specialty, judged by June Shew.
The second big win was at the Hochalaga Kennel Club show. Gena took Best Veteran in Breed followed
by Best Veteran in Group for Groupe 7, and then went on to capture Best Veteran in Show .
