HISTORY

The Michigan - Ohio Briard Club (MOBC), formed in the early 1980's and is a local specialty club which is licensed as a
non-profit organization in the state of Michigan. A Constitution and By-Laws, an elected Board of Directors and member
participation at club meetings are used to guide the club. The MOBC is self-supporting, relying on income from dues,
donations and nominal charges for club events and activities. Our current membership is comprised of approximately 60
people who reside primarily in the states of Michigan and Ohio. We have an informal affiliation with the Briard Club of
America (BCA) which is the national specialty club for our breed through the AKC.

PAST CLUB ACTIVITIES

*Sponsored annual regional specialty shows and hosted national specialties. These shows have attracted large numbers of
Briard entries from all areas of the United States and Canada.
*Have conducted Herding Instinct Tests to provide our dogs with sheep herding experiences.
*Conducted Canine Good Citizen Tests to evaluate and certify our dogs in "basic doggy manners".
*Held Therapy Dog Testing to attain Therapy Dog Certification for visits to hospitals and nursing/retirement facilities.
*Ran Educational Seminars to share information and knowledge on a variety of Briard related subjects such as grooming,
    handling and basic training techniques.
*Held Fun Fairs and agility type courses, which provide fun things to do with our dogs and aid in the necessary socializtion
    of young Briards.

We hold about eight meetings throughout the year, usually in conjunction with local AKC shows. Our meetings are open to
all members in good standing and guests are always welcomed to attend.
